Company History Werts Welding & Tank Service, Inc. first opened its doors for business in March of 1957. It\'s founder, Robert R. Werts, became interested in welding in high school during the 1940\'s and worked for a welding shop for 6 years after his discharge from the service. Mr. Werts, along with his wife Verna, began their welding business in a portion of a 30 ft. x 40 ft. building across the street from its present location in Wood River, Illinois. In 1958, shortly after the construction of their first building, Mr. Werts was approached by a local trucking company to repair a damaged petroleum tank. This unit began the process of Werts Welding & Tank Service, Inc. specializing in the tank trailer industry. After several years of repairing Tank Trailers without a reliable source of parts, Werts Welding started stocking equipment for the type of tank trailers they were repairing. Customers soon found out about our stock & over-the-counter parts sales began to local accounts. This division of the business grew very fast, so more product lines were added. With the development and distribution of a complete tank trailer parts catalog, Werts Welding & Tank Service, Inc. evolved into one of the premier tank trailer equipment distributors in the world. Fifty seven years of serving the Tank Trailer Industry has seen many changes and challenges for the Werts family and their extended family of employees. The founders son, Dwight A. Werts, joined the firm in 1977 and is now the President and CEO. To better serve our customers, Werts Welding opened a tank trailer parts distribution center in San Antonio, TX. in 1991. Seeing a need to better service our customers in the Southeast; in 1997 Werts acquired new parts distribution centers in Birmingham, AL., Atlanta, GA. and Tampa, FL. In 2003 an opportunity was presented to us which allowed Werts to open our 6th branch in Des Moines, IA. In December, 2011, we opened our 7th branch, this one in Billings, MT. when we recognized the need for a reliable tank trailer parts distributor in this part of the U.S. On March 1, 2013, we opened our 8th branch, this one in Denver, CO. This branch has tank parts, trailer sales & straight truck sales. The Denver branch has allowed us to continue expanding toward the west coast so that we can service our customers in a more timely manner and offer us a chance to broaden our customer base. We would also like to thank all of our customers, suppliers and everyone in the tank trailer industry for 58+ years of continued support and we look forward to serving all of your tank trailer needs in any way we can, now and in the future.
