Overview

The Pinellas County Resource Recovery Facility is located on 15 acres within the 700-acre Pinellas County Solid Waste Management complex in St. Petersburg, FL. The facility is owned by Pinellas County, FL and began commercial operation in 1983. Covanta Pinellas assumed operational responsibility for the facility in late 2014. The facility can process up to 3,150 tons per day of solid waste while generating up to 75 megawatts (MW) of clean, renewable energy.
