Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the official Humboldt Waste Management Authority website?

This page is part of the Wastebits Locator, a directory of waste handlers and service providers. It is not the official website of Humboldt Waste Management Authority. Is there information that we can update to keep things accurate? Request an edit to this page.

What does a transfer facility do?

A transfer facility receives waste and moves it through the next step of the process. It often serves as a place where waste is combined, sorted, or prepared before being taken to another facility for recycling, treatment, or disposal.

Why not take waste straight to its final destination?

In some cases, sending waste through a transfer facility can save time, reduce hauling costs, or make it easier to manage larger amounts of material. It can also help connect waste with the right next stop when the final destination is farther away or better suited for a certain type of waste.
