Emerald Park Landfill originally opened in 1994 accepts MSW, C&D, non-hazardous industrial wastes, non-hazardous liquid waste and asbestos. Currently, the facility receives approximately 1,200 tons per day with no daily maximum requirement. Emerald Park Landfill delivers 1,500 cubic feet per minute (CFM) of landfill gas to Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewage District via a 17-mile pipeline to power its turbines. Emerald Park has a Corporate Lands for Learning designation from the National Wildlife Council, which it was granted in November 2012. The site is located in the City of Muskego and pays host fees to five entities, City of Muskego, Waukesha County, Town of Norway, City of Franklin and Racine County. Leachate from the site is recalculated and the site also has a direct discharge into the municipal sewer system as well. The life expectancy of the site is approximately 14 years. This facility is permitted to accept waste from all counties in Wisconsin and surrounding states and accepts waste from Advanced Disposal subsidiaries and third party companies.
