Arbor Hills Landfill is an MSW landfill that was started in the 1991 and most recently received its latest expansion in 2009. The facility is permitted by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality. Waste is delivered to the landfill by both haul and transfer loads. Municipal Solid Waste, Construction and Demolition Debris, Municipal and Industrial Sludges, Friable and Non-Friable asbestos, and residual wastes are received for disposal. The facility currently utilizes tipper service to assist with unloading of waste trailers.
The facility is included in most State of MI County Solid Waste Plans, has contracts with residual waste generators both in MI and surrounding states and accepts waste from Advanced Disposal subsidiaries and third party companies.

Can all trash be sent to a landfill?
Not always. Some materials may need to be handled differently because of local rules, the type of waste involved, or the way a particular landfill operates.
Why are some materials kept out of landfills?
Some materials need different handling because of safety, environmental, or regulatory concerns. Others may be banned from landfill disposal because there are better recovery, treatment, or recycling options available.
